General English classes will help to improve a students’ all round ability in English. These classes will provide a balance of practice in reading, writing, listening and speaking skills and will also cover grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. A course book may be used.
Conversation and Pronunciation
Conversation and pronunciation classes will concentrate on improving students’ ability to speak accurately and easily in a variety of situations. Lessons will concentrate mostly on listening, speaking and pronunciation work in a variety of everyday contexts. There may also be work on grammar, and vocabulary as well as some reading and writing. A range of different resources and material is used during lessons.
Grammar and Writing
Grammar and writing classes will concentrate on areas of grammar and writing which students find most difficult at present. Lessons may involve some analysis of areas of grammar as well as exercises to give further practice using the language. Writing tasks will aim to improve students’ ability to write accurately in a variety of contexts.
Reading and Speaking
Reading and speaking classes will aim to improve students’ vocabulary and reading skills using a number of different topic areas. Students will have the opportunity to use the language they learn during a reading task to talk about topics of interest.
This class is for students who need to improve their ability to read, write, listen and speak English for a variety of different situations. Material for lessons will be taken from newspapers, magazines, multimedia broadcasts and real work and social situations. Teachers will help students to use a combination of reading, writing, speaking and listening skills to look at language used in certain situations and to practice this language in class. Lessons will develop students’ vocabulary and help them to communicate more easily in a variety of situations.
This class is for students who need to learn how to use English in everyday life in the UK. The lessons are very practical and students may learn how to book appointments, telephone a company for advice or information, open a bank account, join the library etc. Teachers will use course books, authentic materials and real situations to teach lessons. Students may be taken out of the classroom to practice their English.
This class is for students who need to improve their English language level and want to prepare for an exam. Lessons will include reading, listening, writing and speaking as well as grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation but will also work on areas of language that students will be examined on during the exam. A course book may be used.
Examination Focus classes are for students who are already the correct level to sit their exam. Students will work with past papers to practice exam technique under exam conditions. Exam focus classes will help students get the best possible grade in their exam.
In this virtual Live Online lesson students will find out more about England, the country, the people, the customs and culture. They may visit local places and take photographs to create a collage or poster to display in class. They may speak to other people in the local community to find out more about England, English customs and culture and with their teacher’s help they may create a student magazine of their experiences. In the classroom students will mostly work with authentic material to research and learn about English life and culture. They will improve their speaking and communicative skills and increase their vocabulary. Students may produce a student magazine, poster, blog or website to show their friends and families
Play your Play
In this lesson students will work in groups to prepare, act and film scenes from an English Play. The teacher will help and guide them to find a suitable play, write the script, choose the cast, director producer, camera man etc of the play, rehearse and perform the play for camera. When they finish, students will have a film of their play which they can send to their friends or family at home.
