USEFUL INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS
NEW ENGLISH LANGUAGE STUDENT INITIAL ASSESSMENT
When a new student wants to join English lessons with English Language House we always ask them (i) to tell us what course they want to join and (ii) to do an initial level test so we can check their level of English. Because of Covid and the continued risk of infection, we ask students to do this online.
After a student has completed the first 10 hours of lessons we also ask them to complete the yellow feedback form to tell us what they think. This is an opportunity for the student to tell us if they are finding the lessons easy or difficult, if they have any problems that they want us to help them with etc.
Then after every 10 weeks of lessons and also at the end of their course, we ask students to complete the student questionnaire to give us feedback on their course, their English language progress, if they would like extra help with their English or if we can help them with information or advice about anything else eg finding a school for their children, finding out about courses at University, booking an exam, applying for a job etc.
THE NEW STUDENT WELCOME PACK AND QUIZ
When students first join English Language House they can view, download and save our New student welcome pack and complete the new student quiz. The welcome pack contains useful information and advice about living and studying in the UK and the student quiz helps students to research and find out about how things work in the UK eg how to contact the emergency services, what to do if you visit someone's house etc Students who score 100% when they complete the quiz, will get a prize.
Students who join English Language House also have access to our library of graded readers. These are books with stories which students can read to get more practice in English at their level. Our physical library is currently closed but students can still borrow books available in our virtual library.
