CHOOSING YOUR COURSE AND YOUR LESSONS
When students contact ELH for the first time we will send them an email with information about: We will also send them a link to:
- the Elh terms and conditions for adult students
- the New Student Registration form
- If a students also needs accommodation we will send them the accommodation form for adult students
- If a student needs a visa to study in the UK we will send them the visa form for adult students
VISA STUDENTS
Students who need a visa to study in the UK are "visa students". This includes students who need:
Students who need a visa to study must make sure they read and understand the advice for visa students and the visa information before they complete the elh Visa Form so that we can assess your application to study at ELH as a visa student.
IMPORTANT: After you have chosen your course and paid for your lessons these lessons are booked for you student and it may not be possible to change your mind and receive a refund. You can add lessons to your timetable but you cannot deduct lessons once a course has started. ELH will only change your timetable of lessons if your level has improved and you can change to a higher level. ELH will not refund or reschedule lessons that students miss.
- Tier 4 - General student visa
- A Short Term Study Visa for 6 months or 11 months
Students who need a visa to study must make sure they read and understand the advice for visa students and the visa information before they complete the elh Visa Form so that we can assess your application to study at ELH as a visa student.
IMPORTANT: After you have chosen your course and paid for your lessons these lessons are booked for you student and it may not be possible to change your mind and receive a refund. When should you pay?
Visa students – 10 weeks before the start date of their course
Non visa students – 2 weeks before the start date of their course
We recommend that all non visa students register and pay at least two weeks before the start date of their course. We recommend that you register at least 6 weeks before the start date if are not in UK, and at least 10 weeks before the start date if you are a visa student. Students who want to take advantage of the discounts available they must pay in advance of the start date of their course. See details below and in the individual course booklets.
The cost of a course is shown in the dates and fees page on our website. Please read this carefully to make sure you pay the correct amount. If you are not sure which classes are best for you you can pay for a small number of trial lessons initially, if these are available, before you join a full course.

DISCOUNTS FOR DIRECT BOOKINGS
These discounts are only available for students who book directly with ELH; they are not available when students book through an agent.
Intensive courses:
New students who make a direct booking and pay full fees for an intensive course 5 weeks in advance of their start date will be entitled to the following discounts:

If you register and pay full course fees 6 weeks before the start date of your course you will get the following discounts:

- Book a 10 week holiday course and pay full fees 10 weeks before the start date and you will receive a 10% discount
- Book a 5 week holiday course and pay full fees 10 weeks before the start date and you’ll get a 5% discount

REGISTERING WITH ELH FOR THE FIRST TIME
The first time you join ELH you will need to complete a New Student Registration Form and pay a £39 registration fee. You pay this fee only once. This fee is non-refundable. All new students also do an assessment and needs analysis to check their level and help them decide what course is best for them.

- talk about your course requirements
- take a placement test to check your current level of English
- register with ELH and pay your course fees
- if you plan to take days off during your course you need to say now and give the exact dates in writing.
HOW YOU CAN PAY FOR YOUR COURSE
- You can pay the total course fees in advance and take advantage of the discounts available or
- You can pay a course deposit and the outstanding balance in installments. Your course deposit is either £500 or 25% of your total course fees; whichever is higher.
Non visa students can pay a course deposit and the outstanding balance in installments as follows:
- For courses of 10 weeks or more: 50% deposit & 1 installment of the outstanding balance
- For courses of 20 weeks or more: 50% deposit & 2 installment of the outstanding balance
- For courses of 30 weeks or more: 50% deposit & 3 installment of the outstanding balance
Please pay your installments by the due date. Failure to do so may incur a late payment charge.
RE-ENROLLMENT
Students can complete one course and re-enroll for another course. They can do this as often as they like.
When you re-enroll:
You will receive a timetable and receipt for each new programme you re-enroll for.
If you have an outstanding balance to pay we will give you a receipt showing the money you are paying at the time of re-enrollment and your new timetable. If you have already paid the full fees your receipt will show that there is no outstanding balance and your new timetable
We suggest that you re-enroll at least two weeks before the start date of the new programmes to make sure that you can choose the Classes you prefer. If you re-enroll later than this we cannot guarantee that we can place you in the class you have chosen.
When you re-enroll:
You will receive a timetable and receipt for each new programme you re-enroll for.
If you have an outstanding balance to pay we will give you a receipt showing the money you are paying at the time of re-enrollment and your new timetable. If you have already paid the full fees your receipt will show that there is no outstanding balance and your new timetable

REFUNDS:

Visa Students pay as follows:
- Tier 4 visa students need to pay the registration fee and full course fees in advance in order to get a CAS.
- Students who need a short term study visa to study in the UK will need to pay the registration fee and either (i) pay full fees in advance or (ii) pay a non refundable visa administration charge before we can issue a "Letter of Acceptance".
Refunds to visa students:
Students who do not get a visa will be given a refund of the full fees minus the visa administration charge of £100 to £500. This charge does not include the registration fee of £39 which is non refundable. ELH will need to see evidence that the student has not been granted a student visa before we can make a refund. It is the responsibility of the student to get a letter from the Embassy or the Home Office which will show that they have not been granted a student visa.
Students who do not get a visa will be given a refund of the full fees minus the visa administration charge of £100 to £500. This charge does not include the registration fee of £39 which is non refundable. ELH will need to see evidence that the student has not been granted a student visa before we can make a refund. It is the responsibility of the student to get a letter from the Embassy or the Home Office which will show that they have not been granted a student visa.
IMPORTANT: Students must provide this evidence within 3 months of the date on their "Letter of Offer". If a student does not provide ELH with the evidence that they their visa was rejected within the required time and if the student does not contact ELH to make alternative arrangements, ELH will not issue a refund.
- Visa students who get a student visa to study at ELH and who decide not to continue their studies will not get a refund.
- Lessons missed will not be refunded or rescheduled.
- It is the responsibility of the student or the agent (who has registered the student) to contact ELH if there is a delay or change in the students start or finish dates. ELH needs to be told at least seven days before the start date so that they can amend their records. If a student misses his/her course start date and ELH has not been contacted within the time allocated, the student will be charged for the week/s he/she has missed.
- In the event that a course is cancelled due to insufficient numbers students will be given a credit note to be used for alternative or future courses.
Refunds to non-visa students:
- For fees paid for a 5 week course or less there is no refund.
- For fees paid for 6 weeks or more a 50% refund will be given before the start date of the course only if you give 4 weeks notice in writing. The start date is the date of your first course programme.
- After the start date of their course students will not receive a refund. In the event that a course is cancelled due to insufficient numbers students will be given a credit note to be used for alternative or future courses.
- Lessons missed will not be refunded or rescheduled
IMPORTANT: We advise all students to make sure they understand the information regarding "student payment & re-enrollment". If your English is weak please ask a friend to translate the information for you.
FORCE MAJEURE
In the event of 'force majeure' such as fire, flooding, infectious diseases, snow and other events outside the company's reasonable control which may cause the closure of the school, no refund of fees will be made to students. In exceptional circumstances and at the school's discretion students may be given a credit note.

You will need to give no less than 4 weeks notice in order for your request to be considered. In this instance approved leave may be granted at the discretion of the Director ELH. The result of your request will be given to you in writing. The decision of the Director ELH is final.
