Reading and Writing classes will aim to improve students’ vocabulary and reading skills using a number of different topic areas. Students will have the opportunity to use the language they learn during a reading task to write text in a variety of different styles. A book may be used which students will need to buy.
LISTENING AND SPEAKING
Listening and Speaking classes will aim to improve students’ ability to listen and understand language spoken in a variety of different situations and with a range of different accents. Students will have the opportunity to use the language they learn during a listening task to talk about similar subjects themselves and to discuss more general topics of interest. This class is for students who need to improve their skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking. Teachers may use a course book and/or material from other sources eg newspapers, magazines, multimedia broadcasts etc. Students will improve their skills, look at language used in certain situations and practice language during lessons and outside. Lessons will help students develop their overall language skills and may also help students improve the skills they need to prepare for one of the English language exams for international students eg IELTS, FCE, CAE CPE etc. A book may be used which students will need to buy.
This class is for students who need to learn how to use English in everyday life in the UK. The lessons are very practical and students may learn how to book appointments, telephone a company for advice or information, open a bank account, join the library etc. Teachers will use course books, authentic materials and real situations to teach lessons. Students may be taken out of the classroom to practice their English. A book may be used which students will need to buy.
This class is for students who need to prepare for one of the Exams for international students. Lessons will include work on reading, writing, listening, and speaking as well as grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Lessons will focus on areas of language that students will be examined on during the exam. A course book may be used which students will need to buy. 10 weeks before the examination date students will get additional focus on exam technique and will work with past papers to practice their exam technique under exam conditions. This will help students get the best possible grade when they sit their exam. A book may be used which students will need to buy.
In this virtual Live Online lesson students will find out more about England, the country, the people, the customs and culture. They may visit local places and take photographs to create a collage or poster to display in class. They may speak to other people in the local community to find out more about England, English customs and culture and with their teacher’s help they may create a student magazine of their experiences. In the classroom students will mostly work with authentic material to research and learn about English life and culture. They will improve their speaking and communicative skills and increase their vocabulary. Students may produce a student magazine, poster, blog or website to show their friends and families
PLAY YOUR PLAY
Students will work in groups to prepare, act and film scenes from an English Play. The teacher will help and guide them to find a suitable play, write the script, choose the cast, director, producer, camera man etc of the play, rehearse and perform the play for the camera. When they finish, students will have a film of their play which they can send to their friends or family at home.
