WHAT WE OFFER AT ELH
English Language House (ELH) teaches English to international students.

We run courses in EFL, ESOL, EAL and we also run the CELTA and Delta teacher training courses.

  • We offer English Language courses for single students and student groups.
  • We are a Teacher Training centre for the CELTA and Delta Cambridge English qualifications
  • We are an Open Examination Centre for the Cambridge English Exams for international students and the Trinity ESOL skills for Life Exams
  • We are a SELT listed SELT course provider for the Trinity Secure English Language Tests (SELT) which are approved for UKVI visa applications.

WHAT OUR STUDENTS THINK ABOUT ELH
Students who study with us think that we are a very good school with friendly staff and good teachers. They especially like the small classes and the flexibility of our study programmes.
We think English language house is a good place to study because:
  • we have teachers who are committed, dedicated, trained professionals with a vast pool of experience
  • we assess students very carefully and only accept students who are genuine about learning, so you will not be in a class with students who are all different levels or with students who do not want to be there!
  • we care about our students, we meet and talk to them about their progress every 5 weeks and we constantly strive to ensure they achieve their full potential
  • our teachers teach our students, they don't teach a prescribed "book" or "syllabus", so you know you will learn what you need and not just what's in the book or in the syllabus that week !!!
  • we have a very flexible programme of study and students can chose what is best for them
  • our British Council report noted our Teaching as a strength and our ISI report states that the school exceeds expectations for the quality of education.

HOW WE CAN HELP STUDENTS CHOOSE WHST IS BEST FOR THEM
We ask students to do an initial assessment on entry. This will assess the student's level of English and their individual English language needs. It will help us to recommend suitable classes that the student can join to improve their English and reach their language goals. The student can then decide how many classes they want to join, when they want study and how much they want to pay.

If a student wants to join an exam preparation course and sit an exam at our ELH Open Centre, we recommend that the student completes a hurdle test. This test will show if student is the correct level for the exam they want take.

Students can also test their English by doing a Cambridge English pre-test exam under exam conditions. This pre-test exam is free of charge and is marked by Cambridge English. Pre-test exams are paper based exams which students sit at ELH. They are available for students who want to sit the KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE, and IELTS exams. Pre-test exams give students the opportunity to try the exam before they book and pay for their actual exam.

We want all our students to be happy and we work hard to achieve this. Our students' successes are our successes and we are delighted when students achieve their English Language goals and move on to study at an English speaking University or into a better job.
