ABOUT THE FULLY ONLINE CELTA COURSE AT ENGLISH LANGUAGE HOUSE
Our fully online CELTA will follow the Cambridge guidelines for the online CELTA courses. Trainees will access all learning material via moodle and will attend live online Teaching Practice (TP), feedback and Supervised Lesson Preparation (SLP) sessions with tutors each week.
The course is suitable for candidates who have a very good level of English, good basic IT skills and have use of a good computer and broadband services for the duration of the course.

The criteria for entry to the CELTA course can be seen in the CELTA information pack. If you are interested in applying for the course you should first read the CELTA Terms and Conditions and the Terms and Conditions for Online Courses.
If you agree with these Terms and Conditions you can complete and submit the CELTA application form and the pre interview task and also pay the application fee. If your application is successful you will be emailed and offered an interview for your chosen course. If your application is unsuccessful we will let you know by email and we will refund your application fee. Following your interview you will be given a conditional or an unconditional offer to attend the CELTA course at ELH. A conditional offer will require you to meet certain criteria in order to join the course.
You will receive your offer by email. You must pay your course fees no later than 28 days after you receive an unconditional offer in order to confirm your place on the course. However, if the course start date is less than 28 days away you must pay full fees within 48 hours of interview. If you pay in half this time you can claim a £100 discount.
If you apply for a course that is due to start less than 20 days from the date of your application, we will require full course fees to be paid on application. You can claim the £100 discount if you make this payment on the same day that you submit your application.
After payment of the full course fees, you will be sent all the information and materials required for the course. This material may contain some or all of the following:

Each CELTA course is 120 hours long and trainees should expect to spend extra time outside these hours in order to complete all aspects of the course.
HOW MUCH WORK IS INVOLVED?
Each course requires a minimum of 120 hours attendance. During each course trainees will spend:
- no less than 2 hours to complete each CELTA input Course Unit.
- no less than 52 hours to attend all TP and SLP sessions with tutors.
- no less than 8 hours to write the 4 assignments required.
COURSE SCHEDULE AND TIMETABLE
You can see the course schedule in dates and fees. The specific timetable of your course will be shared with you virtually via Onedrive on the course start date. There is always some flexibility possible in the timetable and trainers may make changes to this in order to allow for Bank holidays, or to accommodate students' availability and/or requirements and the requirements of the course as the course progresses.
During the course you will need to log into Cambridge Moodle and complete the course units shown below in your own time. Your trainers will monitor your progress and give you support as required.
There are a total of 30 Online Course Units to complete and you will also need to attend Live Online sessions with tutors, Teaching Practice sessions and Observations of experienced teachers.

The assignments must be complete in your own time and submitted by the due date. Your trainers will give guidance, mark the assignments and give feedback. It may be necessary to resubmit an assignment which does not meet the required standard, but you can only resubmit each assignment once.
TEACHING PRACTICE (TP), FEEDBACK, SUPERVISED LESSON PREPARATION (SLP), AND OBSERVATIONS OF EXPERENCED TEACHERS
TEACHING PRACTICE (TP)
Each trainee must teach and be assessed by tutors for a total of 360 mins of live online lessons taught during the course. These will be organised in TP slots of 40 and 50 min sessions in your TP rota. Trainees will have to enter their virtual class room via Zoom to teach groups of foreign students. They will be assessed by their tutors and given feedback to help them develop. Trainees will receive training on how to teach virtually and will get a chance to practice before the start their assessed teaching practice.
TP will take place on set days and times and may last 180 mins or 210 mins each. TP may be timetabled in the morning ie from 9:00 to 11:30 GMT, or in the afternoon ie from 14:00 to 16:30 GMT or in the evening ie from 18:00 to 20:30 GMT
We will try to accommodate trainee's preferences whenever possible. If you think you may have a problem attending during one or more of the above times please let us know in advance.

Feedback will usually last 60 mins and may take place either in the mornings ie between 9:00 and 13:00 GMT or in the afternoons ie between 14:00 and 18:00 GMT or in the evening ie between 18:00 and 22:00 GMT.
We will try to accommodate trainee's preferences whenever possible. If you think you may have a problem attending during one or more of the above times please let us know.

During SLP tutors will help trainees prepare for their teaching practice.
