THE INTRODUCTION TO TEFL SHORT COURSE

The introduction to TEFL short course is a teacher training course which will aim to introduce trainees to the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language. This short teacher training course gives trainees a taste of teaching English to international students in a variety of environments.

ABOUT THE TEFL SHORT COURSE
The TEFL short course will introduce trainees to the world of TEFL.
Trainees will observe qualified experienced teachers teaching classes at two different levels and will learn about TEFL methodology, language analysis and lesson planning. Trainees do not need to have any previous teaching experience and they do not need to have achieved native speaker competence in English to attend the course.
Non-native English speakers who attend this course should ideally be of Intermediate level or above.

THE TEFL CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT
Trainees who complete the course gain an ELH Certificate of Achievement.

What is The Introduction to TEFL?
The Introduction to TEFL is a weekend taster course to introduce candidates to the world of TEFL.
Trainees will:
  • observe a language lesson conducted by a qualified experienced teacher and
  • will learn about TEFL methodology, language analysis and lesson planning.
Trainees do not need to have any previous teaching experience, nor have achieved native speaker competence in English to attend the course. Non-native English speakers will need to be Intermediate level or above.

Who awards The Introduction to TEFL?
The qualification is administered by English Language House and a Certificate of Achievement is issued by us.

What is TEFL or TESOL?
'TEFL' stands for Teaching English as a Foreign Language and 'TESOL' stands for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. They are terms used to describe the industry you will be introduced to when you successfully complete your Introduction to TEFL course with English Language House.

Who recognises The Introduction to TEFL Certificate of Achievement?
The Introduction to TEFL Certificate of Achievement is accepted as an indication of completion of the course by English Language House. It signifies that a trainee has undergone some initial training in the Teaching of English as a Foreign/Second language and has achieved a good foundation on which to build upon and which would assist in entering further teacher training courses. Some companies and language schools may accept the Introduction to TEFL Certificate of Achievement as a teaching qualification and successful trainees may be able to find work as EFL/ESOL teachers or teaching assistants.

Why apply to do the Introduction to TEFL?
If you are unsure of your interest in teaching English as a foreign language or you do not wish to attend the full CELTA or Trinity TESOL just yet, then the Introduction to TEFL is for you.

You may be planning to travel abroad and hope to teach but do not require a full CELTA or Trinity TESOL qualification to do so. The Introduction to TEFL is  a quick easy, and cost effective way to achieve your aims.

The price of the course is £259 per person.

The days and times of the course.
The course will take place either face to face or live online over a two day period usually on a Friday and Saturday or over two consecutive Saturdays although other days and times may be possible when the course is booked by a group of 6 or more trainees.
