TYPES OF LESSONS AT ENGLISH LANGUAGE HOUSE

There are 4 different types of lessons that we offer at English language house. 
  1. Group lessons
  2. Three2One lessons
  3. Two2One lessons
  4. One2One lessons 
​Most of our English programmes are available as group lessons when there are 4 or more students in the class. When there are less than 4 students in a class then group lessons are not available and students will study in Three2One, or Two2One or One2One lessons until group lessons become available again.
​Three2One, Two2One and One2One lessons are usually for less hours than group lessons and you will get a new timetable showing the number of hours you will study when group lessons are not available. 

GROUP LESSONS
Group lessons will run when there are 4 or more students in a class. Students will study with a teacher and other students in their class. The teacher will teach the lessons and you will work to improve your overall ability in English. When you book the course we will assess your English and we will place you in a class that is suitable for your language level and needs. You will get a timetable showing the days and times of your group lessons. 
When group lessons are not available, because there are less than 4 students in the class, you will study in Three2One or Two2One or One2One lessons until group lessons become available again. 

Three2One, Two2One and One2One lessons are usually for less hours than group lessons and you will get a new timetable showing the number of hours you will study when group lessons are not available. ​

THREE2ONE LESSONS
Three2One lessons will run when there are 3 students in a class. Students will study with a teacher and two other students in their class. The teacher will teach the lessons and you will work to improve your overall ability in English. When you book the course we will assess your English and we will place you in a class that is suitable for your language level and needs.
When one of our English programmes becomes a Three2One lesson the number of hours of lessons per week and/or the total number of hours per course may be less than in group lessons and you will get a new timetable showing the number of hours you will study when group lessons are not available. 

TWO2ONE LESSONS
Two2One lessons will run when there are 2 students in a class. A student will study with a teacher and one other student in their class. The teacher will teach the lessons and you will work to improve your overall ability in English. When you book the course we will assess your English and we will place you in a class that is suitable for your language level and needs.
When one of our English programmes becomes a Two2One lesson the number of hours of lessons per week and/or the total number of hours per course may be less than in group lessons and you will get a new timetable showing the number of hours you will study when group lessons are not available. 

ONE2ONE LESSONS
One2One lessons will run when there is only 1 student in a class. The student will study with a teacher alone in their class. The teacher will teach the lessons and you will work to improve your overall ability in English. When you book the course we will assess your English and we will place you in a class that is suitable for your language level and needs.
When one of our English programmes becomes a One2One lesson the number of hours of lessons per week and/or the total number of hours per course may be less than in group lessons and you will get a new timetable showing the number of hours you will study when group lessons are not available. 

One2One Lessons are suitable for students of all levels who want to improve their English with a teacher alone. 

When you join one of our One2One English programmes you will:
  • improve your English
  • make friends, relax and enjoy speaking English outside the classroom, if your lessons at at Elh
  • prepare and sit an exam at the end of you course, if you want. 

What you will learn:
  • Grammar and vocabulary and how to use this accurately and fluently
  • Communication skills so you can speak with more confidence 
  • Reading, writing, listening  and speaking skills

How you will learn:
  • Your teacher will use motivating materials including digital resources and course books.
  • Your teacher will adapt the course so that it is appropriate for the needs and level of the group.
  • You will be able to practise your English outside of the classroom with our Social Programme of events, activities and trips you can join if you wish.
  • You will get regular progress reports and tutorials will help you to improve your English and reach your learning goals.

Each course is suitable for different levels and you will be asked to tell us what you need to work on to improve your English. Your teacher will use motivation and interesting material to teach you what you need. 

What you will achieve:
  • You will learn to communicate more fluently
  • Your will improve your accuracy in English 
  • You will develop in all four skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking (including pronunciation)
  • You will feel more confident in English-speaking environments and interacting with other English speakers.
  • You will get an end of course "Certificate of Attendance" with your new English level, if you request this.

You can choose to combine English One2One Lessons with:
  • an Exam preparation lessons
  • English Group lessons
  • an E-learning course

What you could do when you complete your One2One English course:
  • You could use your new English skills for work and travel
  • You could prepare for an IELTS or Cambridge Exams qualification
  • You could join an Academic Skills course and prepare for further or higher study in an English College or University.
  • ​You could join Group lessons and continue to improve. 

When you join one of our English programmes you will:
  • improve your English
  • make friends, relax and enjoy speaking English outside the classroom
  • prepare and sit an exam at the end of your course, if you want. 

What you will learn:

LESSONS FOR EXAM PREPARATION 
Exam Preparation Lessons are suitable for students from B1 to C2 level who want to improve their English and prepare for an English exam eg PET, FCE, CAE, CPE, IELTS etc.

You can join one of our English programmes for exam preparation and:
  • improve your English
  • make friends, relax and enjoy speaking English outside the classroom
  • prepare and sit an exam at the end of your course; we are a Cambridge Open Examination centre so you can sit the exam at English Language House, Milton Keyes if you like.

What you will learn:
  • Exam skills: how to complete all papers accurately and within the allowed time.
  • You will improve your grammar and vocabulary and learn how to use this more accurately and fluently
  • You will improve your communication skills so you can speak with more confidence 
  • You will improve your skills in reading, writing, listening  and speaking.

How you will learn:
  • Teachers will use motivating materials including digital resources and course books.
  • You will be able to practise your English outside of the classroom with our Social Programme of events, activities and trips you can join if you wish.
  • Teachers will adapt the course for the needs and level of each class.
  • Regular progress reports and individual tutorials will help you to achieve your learning goals.

Each exam preparation course is suitable for the level/s required to sit the exam/s and you will be placed in a class with people who have a similar language level and exam need.

What you will achieve:
  • You will prepare for your exam
  • You will learn to communicate more fluently
  • Your will improve your accuracy in English 
  • You will develop in all four skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking (including pronunciation)
  • You will feel more confident in English-speaking environments and interacting with other English speakers.
  • You will get an end of course "Certificate of Attendance" with your new English level, if you request this.

You can choose to combine an Exam Preparation Course with:
  • an English Group course
  • a One2One course
  • an E-learning course

What you could do after your course:
  • You could use your new English skills for work and travel
  • You could prepare for a higher IELTS or Cambridge Exams qualification
  • You could prepare to study in English with an Academic Skills course​
