ENGLISH PROGRAMMES
 FOR UNDER 18s

ENGLISH FOR UNDER 18s
Students who are 16 or 17 years old can often join our English Programme for adult students.
Students who are under 16 will mostly join one of the following:
  • The Junior Holiday Programme (for 4 or more students who book to study together)
  • The Junior Group programme (for 4 or more students who book to study together)
  • The Junior One2One programme (for 1 student who books to study with a teacher on his/her own)
  • The Junior Two2One programme (for 2 students who book to study with a teacher)
  • The Junior Three2One programme (for 3 students who book to study with a teacher)

ENGLISH FOR 16 & 17 YEAR OLDS:
If your son/daughter is 16 or 17 years old at the start of their course he/she can join an English Programme for adult students.

Together with your child please:
  • Look at the English Programmes available at English Language House and choose the programme you want your child to join eg Face2Face, Live Online, Mixed Mode full time, part time, Group lessons, One2One etc
  • Read the Terms and Conditions for students and
  • Read the Terms and Conditions for Online Purchases
  • See the information about group lessons
  • Complete the NEW Student Registration Form
And ask your child to complete:
  • the Level Test on his/her own without help.
If you are the parent you must also:
  • Complete the parental consent form
You can only do this if you are one of the parents of the 16 or 17 year old student.

After this we will contact you and your child to let you know:
  • your child's level,
  • if we can accept your child on the course you have chosen
  • when your child can start his/her course and
  • how much the English programme will cost.

We can also send you an invoice for your child's full fees.

PLEASE NOTE THAT:
Students who are 16 or 17 and want to join an adult programme must be mature enough to study in an adult class. If they are not serious about learning English and they are disruptive during lessons they will be moved to a One2One programme for the remainder of their course.

When 4 or more students who are 16 and/or 17 want to study together their parents can book
  • a Junior holiday programme or
  • a Junior group programme.

OPTION TO CONVERT:

If you choose a Junior One2One, Two2One or Three2One programme for your child but you prefer your child to study with more students in the class you can tell us when you complete the parental consent form. Then, if this is possible, we will convert this programme to a programme with more students when your child arrives to start their lessons with us.
  • When this happens your child will study more hours per week for the duration of their course. There will be no extra charge to convert this programme. If you select this option you must make sure that your child will be free to do more hours per week during his/her course. If you select face2face lessons you must make sure that your child can travel to Elh in Central Milton Keynes to attend lessons.
ENGLISH FOR UNDER 16 YEAR OLDS:
If your son/daughter is under 16 years old at the start of their course he/she can join an English programme for under 18s but cannot join a programme for adult students.
This is not something that we can change because it is a rule in the UK that students who are under 16 cannot study with adult students.

Together with your child please look at the programmes that are available for under 16s:
  • Junior Holiday Programme (for 4 or more students who book to study together)
  • Junior Group programme (for 4 or more students who book to study together)
  • Junior One2One programme (for 1 student who books to study with a teacher on his/her own)
  • Junior Two2One programme (for 2 students who book to study with a teacher)
  • Junior Three2One programme (for 3 students who book to study with a teacher)

Then please:
  • Read the Terms and Conditions for students and
  • Read the Terms and Conditions for Online Purchases
  • See the information about group lessons
  • Complete the NEW Student Registration Form with your child.
After this please ask you child to complete:
  • the  Level Test on his/her own without help.

Then, if you are the parent please also:
  • Complete the parental consent form
You can only do this if you are one of the parents of the under 16 year old student.

After this we will contact you and your child to let you know:
  • your child's level,
  • if we can accept your child on the course you have chosen
  • when your child can start his/her course and
  • how much the English programme will cost.

We can also send you an invoice for your child's full fees.

STUDENT GROUPS FOR UNDER 16s
When we have a group of under 16s we will usually place students in a group according to their age and English language ability.

This means that if you want to book a course for more than 1 student who is under 16 then the students can only study together if they are a similar age and language level.

Mostly we use the following age range and English language level.

AGE RANGE:
  • 13 to 15 year olds
  • 10 to 12 year olds
  • under 10 year olds

LANGUAGE LEVEL:
  • Starter (pre A1 to A1+)
  • Lower  (A2 to  B1+)
  • Higher (B2 to  C1)
  • Proficient (C2 )

BEFORE YOU BOOK LESSONS FOR YOUR CHILD:
Before you book lessons for your child/children please think about the answers to these questions.
We will need this information so that we can assess your child/children's needs and arrange lessons.
  1. When would you like your child/children to start the course?
  2. When would you like your child/children to finish the course?
  3. How old will your child/children be at the start of the course?
  4. What days and times can your child/children have lessons?
  5. How many hours/minutes per day would you like your child/children to study?
  6. How many weeks do you want your child/children to study?
  7. Do you want to include any break weeks during the course?
  8. Do you want your child/children to study face2face or live online?
  9. If you want lessons live online can the child/children use Zoom or Microsoft teams?
  10. How many children do you want to book a course for?

Stay safe and carry on learning.
