WHAT IS A PRETESTING EXAM
Pretesting exams are test papers from Cambridge English Language Assessment
These papers are sent to Cambridge English Language Assessment test centres like English Language House and students who are preparing for these exams can sit the exams for free.
These Pretesting exams are not real exams; students do not pay for them and they do not get a certificate. Pretesting exams are trial papers that test the materials (eg the grammar questions, the listening, the writing etc) before this material is selected to use in real live examinations. Pretesting allows Cambridge to make sure that their real live exam material is accurate, fair and reliable.
What happens?
How Pretesting exams can help students:
Students can sign up for a Pretesting exam at English Language House and sit this in Milton Keynes. This exam will help a student to practise the Cambridge English exam using real questions under exam conditions. The student will get the grade directly from Cambridge and this can help the student decide if they are ready for the real exam.
And the best part it that "students can do all this completely free of charge"..!!!
Who can sit a Pretesting exam at ELH?
These papers are sent to Cambridge English Language Assessment test centres like English Language House and students who are preparing for these exams can sit the exams for free.

- Pretesting exams are sent to English Language House (ELH) by Cambridge English Language Assessment.
- English Language House runs these exams in our rooms in central Milton Keynes under exam conditions.
- At the end of the exam we collect the examination papers and send them back to Cambridge English Language Assessment.
- Cambridge English Language Assessment mark these papers and send ELH the results.
- ELH gives the students their results.

Who can sit a Pretesting exam at ELH?
- All ELH students who are the correct level for the exam can sit a Pretesting exam at English Language House.
- Non ELH students can also sit a Pretesting exam but they will need to bring us evidence that they are the correct level for the exam they want to sit eg a non ELH student who wants to sit an FCE pretest can bring proof of enrolment or attendance on a course showing that they are studying at FCE level.
